Vision Airlines Announces New Non-Stop, Low-Fare Service Between Chattanooga and Northwest Florida

(January 18, 2010) - Vision Airlines announces today the launch of its non-stop, low-fare air service between Chattanooga, Tenn., and Destin - Fort Walton Beach, Fla., beginning April 1, 2011, with rates starting at $89/one way*. To celebrate the largest expansion of a commercial airline in more than a decade, travelers may book flights to Florida at the $49/one way* introductory fare, when booked between Jan. 18 - 23, 2011.

"Vision Airlines is excited to offer this new, low-cost air service to the Chattanooga community and surrounding areas," said David Meers -- chief operating officer, commercial operations, Vision Airlines. "It is our desire to continue to grow our service and route structure, and offer tremendous value to leisure travelers."

Vision Airlines will operate flights two days per week, from Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (CHA) to Northwest Florida Regional Airport (VPS), utilizing a 148-seat Boeing 737-400 aircraft, allowing travelers to experience an outstanding beach destination the minute they step off the plane.

Encompassing the southern sea towns of Destin - Fort Walton Beach, and Okaloosa Island, Northwest Florida's Emerald Coast has something for everyone, from basking on 24 miles of shockingly-white shoreline and teeing off on more than 1,080 challenging holes, to casting lines in the fish-filled waters of the "World's Luckiest Fishing Village" and watching dolphins dance at the state's oldest marine, Florida's Gulfarium.

"We welcome Vision Airlines and their exciting brand of low fares and big jets to the Scenic City," said Mike Landguth, president of the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority. "The Gulf Coast is an extremely popular vacation destination for many of our friends across the Tennessee Valley, and we look forward to giving our travelers more time on the beach this year and less time in the car."

Following a challenging year for the Emerald Coast tourism industry due to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in April 2010, Vision Airlines confidently introduces non-stop, low-fare flight service from 20 markets into the destination acclaimed as the "Best Beach Town in the South" for 14 consecutive years by the readers of Southern Living. The airline will continue to aggressively serve new markets around the country that offer the consumer tremendous vacation values.

Starting April 1, 2011, Vision Airlines will serve the following markets to Northwest Florida:

  • Chattanooga, Tenn.
  • Asheville, N.C.
  • Columbia, S.C.
  • Shreveport, La.
  • Orlando-Sanford
